2026 Wellness & Technology Trend Predictions: Part 2
Next up in our three part series on wellness and technology trend predictions for 2025 has to do with lifestyle micro modifications as a part of overall health strategy.
What are micro modifications? Micro modifications are changes so small they may seem insignificant to overall health and wellbeing. However, as with anything the small things add up. One example is sleep. Quality sleep can make a difference in almost every function and bodily feeling. Poor sleep seems to bring down so many systems and dim our lights. Another example is posture. Poor posture not only makes us feel poor physically, but also emotionally. Although we think of mental health as an inside out paradigm, there is always an influence from the outside in as well. Sitting slumped, and frowning has an effect on mental health, and although it may be hard to brush off a mentally tough day, there’s power and trying to better our inside emotions by changing our outward physical energy.
The first product I want to feature are smart beds. These combined with wearables that track vitals and heart rate can change the temperature of your bed to improve your REM cycles and quality of sleep. As your sleep gets deeper, your bed can modify the environment helping you maintain a more restorative sleep experience. An example is the Eight Sleep Pod. This has dual temperature control integrated sensors for tracking sleep stages, heart rate, respiration and HRF. It also modulates bed climate based on physiological feedback. Constant monitoring helps perfect your personal sleep experience. (Sound options available as well!).
Apps like Giraffe also use AI with the built-in camera in your laptop to encourage you to sit up straight when your posture declines. It’s like having that old-school teacher, gently tapping you on the shoulder to sit up straight just when you need it. You may notice improved physical feeling in your spine, or maybe you even feel more productive sitting up straight rather than hanging over your desk. Stop taking a step backwards just by sitting with poor posture by using an app like Giraffe.
Another device that helps with posture is Upright Go 2 Posture Trainer. This sits on your back and also reminds you to stop hunching whenever your posture declines. These attach to your t-shirt and provide a gentle reminder whenever posture goes from upright to slumped in position.
What if your desk could do the work for you? Well Yo Yo Wellness Up & Go Smart Desk does just that. This desk is connected to your smartphone, and based on the goals you input can remind you to stand up, sit down, or simply change positions. How many adjustable standing desks out there exist, but stay locked in one position for months on end? This desk will keep you moving throughout the day, avoiding any mechanical pain coming from sitting in a prolonged posture (even good posture can be too much if held for too long).
Whether you are making micro modifications to your posture or your sleep, small steps can have a huge impact on overall health and wellbeing.
