Frequently Asked Questions

What does acupuncture feel like?

Acupuncture is SAFE, GENTLE, and EFFECTIVE. Patients will often not feel the needle at all. All acupuncture risks will be gone over in detail in the first appointment.

Do I have to get acupuncture?

Although acupuncture is offered as a part of an initial appointment, every patient is in full control of their treatment plan. When booking a follow-up appointment, there are two options to choose from; one with acupuncture included and one without.

How long does acupuncture take?

Usually the entire process can take from 10-20 minutes.

What does acupuncture help with?

Acupuncture helps decrease pain, speed the healing process, and relax the muscles. It’s great for muscle and joint conditions both in the spine and in the extremities.

Where are you going to put the needles?

We use only Traditional Chinese Medicine points. Needles may be placed close to where you are experiencing your pain and/or further away. All potential points used in clinic are discussed before treatment, and as always, patients are in full control of their treatment session (ie. if you have a spot you don’t want a needle in, we don’t have to use that spot!).

Do I have to believe in acupuncture for it to work?

No, acupuncture works on a physiologic nature that will still work even if a patient may not fully believe in the process.
