2026 Technology & Wellness Trend Predictions: Part 3
My last prediction for 2026 wellness and technology trends is that we will all be maximizing our at home potential. Think of your home as your own, private, recovery clinic. Tools on the market are combining modalities and incorporating technology to help you recover, uplifting the at home self care experience.
The use of modern wearables tracking heart rate, HRV, and rhythm, sleep patterns, physical activity, blood oxygen, blood pressure, body temperature, and even glucose monitoring allows telehealth to expand and improve early detection and intervention for both acute and chronic disease management, and patient empowerment.
The first product example I wanted to highlight was the Theracup. This cup combines suction (soft tissue mobilization) with heat, and vibration. This is also sold over the counter to the public for at home use. Place this on a trigger point and watch it melt away, bringing oxygen and blood to the area, and soothing tight tissues with added heat and vibration.
Another product that combines modalities is Achedaway. This is a heated scraper, combining soft tissue mobilization with heat. This will provide mobility and blood flow, improving your function and your feeling. Heat will also allow you to go deeper, providing more relief than a traditional scraper or instrument.
A more expensive product is the Hyperboot by Nike and Hyperixce. This newer product combines heat and compression in a shoe. It is being advertised as a pre-workout tool, to get you warmed and ready for a run or a workout. The idea is to improve blood flow manually, while adding heat to actually warm up your feet, thus preventing any injuries that traditionally occur when athletes are not warm enough. I think this would also work well as a recovery tool for after a run or a long day of standing. Keeping these as indoor shoes for your at home self care would be a great way to improve overall foot health.
One last recovery product is automatic rollers. These combine the concept of an electric hoverboard and a soft tissue roll bar. Place the electric roller under your calves and it rolls up your body on its own just like a Roomba! This may not replace a massage appointment but it may help with improving DOMS after a tough workout! (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness).
The Smart Health Ring tracks vitals like blood pressure, allowing your health care team to get a better overall picture of your stress and cardiovascular health. The Senior Protection Medical Alert Smartwatch is another wearable technology with medial features and vital sign tracking which can help with older populations or patients under chronic care. If gait or fall risk is a concern, than a monitor like the OneStep Motion can help clinicians assess gait, mobility and even fall risk remotely using phone sensors.
Whether you are using your technology at home as a weekend warrior or a retired senior new to pickleball, your home is now the latest gym and recovery clinic with the best technology has to offer! Combine modalities and even track movements, all from the comfort of your own home.
